Privacy Policy

Back to Player ("we", "us") operates the Back to Player mobile app (the "App"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy. It is written to meet the Apple App Store and Google Play requirements and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP).
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address and password, or your Google account if you use "Continue with Google"; your name, profile photo, city, and role (player or coach). A mobile number is optional.
- Player profile: self-reported level, playing preferences, and your rating (computed by us).
- Coach profile: bio, specialties, rate, service area, and availability.
- Location: with your permission, your device location, used to compute distance and area to other users. We never show your exact location to other users โ only an approximate area label and a coarse, rounded distance.
- Content: short gameplay videos you upload for review, your profile photos, and the notes coaches add.
- Usage & device: app interactions (via PostHog) and crash diagnostics (via Sentry).
- Payments: when you book a coach, payments are processed by Razorpay. We store the booking amount and payment status, not your card details.
2. Why we use it
- To run core features: matching nearby players, booking coaches, video reviews, and ratings.
- To keep you safe (showing area and distance only, never a precise location).
- To process payments and prevent fraud.
- To send transactional notifications (match requests, bookings, reviews).
- To fix bugs and improve the product (aggregate analytics).
We rely on your consent for location and notifications, and on the necessity of performing our service for the rest. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 6).
3. Location, specifically
- Location is requested only while using the App ("when in use"). We never track you in the background.
- Your precise coordinates are stored securely and used server-side to compute distances.
- Other users see only your chosen area label (e.g. "Saket, South Delhi") and a rounded distance (e.g. "1.2 km") โ never a pin, address, or live position.
- You can turn off discovery anytime in Settings โ Discoverable, which removes you from nearby results.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers ("processors") that help us run the App:
- Supabase โ database, authentication, and app hosting.
- Cloudflare R2 โ storage of your videos and profile photos.
- Google โ "Continue with Google" sign-in (only if you use it).
- Razorpay โ payment processing for coach bookings.
- Expo โ push-notification delivery.
- Sentry / PostHog โ crash diagnostics and product analytics.
We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law.
5. Storage & retention
- Your data is hosted on Supabase and Cloudflare infrastructure.
- We keep your data while your account is active and delete or anonymize it within 30 days of account deletion, except where law requires us to keep it longer (for example, payment records).
6. Your rights
You may access your data, correct it, withdraw consent, or request erasure. Use Settings in the App or contact our Grievance Officer (above). We respond within 30 days.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 18. Coaches working with minors must comply with applicable laws; bookings for minors are made by a parent or guardian.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, row-level security on every database table, and private storage for videos. No system is perfectly secure; please report concerns to backtoplayer.tennis@gmail.com.
9. Changes
We will update this page and the "Last updated" date above when this policy changes. Material changes will be notified in the App.
